‘Love is in the air’ - quite literally. Pete from Nature Escapes explores the amazing romantic power of nature.

  1. Wonder

There is awesome beauty everywhere in nature, always something to learn and new things to amaze you. This constant wonder catches our attention and primes us to be open and curious. This can lead to new patterns of interaction with one another.

  2. Playing out together

When you’re out in nature, whether it’s walking or white water rafting, you allow your inner child to play and connect with your partner’s inner child. This fires up connections in your brain that bypass conscious thought. Together you build trust during this play as you overcome obstacles and fear, which in turn improves communication.

  3. Romantic scenery

Some scenes in nature are so breathtaking it’s no wonder people choose to pop the question in the great outdoors. Pete proposed to Fleur in the perfect spot, by a waterfall in Lairig Gartain, Glen Coe. Read our story here.

  4. Look and feel sexier

Getting active in fabulous scenery boosts adrenaline and causes a rush of endorphins. Testosterone levels increase giving sex drive a boost. Vigour and vitality, a windswept face all give you a healthy, more youthful glow. You literally look and feel sexier.

  5. Less distractions

Away from the household chores, the emails, phone calls and kids, couples can give more of their attention to each other. By disconnecting from technology they can reconnect with each other.

  6. Healthy meets happy

Being in nature has significant benefits for our health and happiness. Studies show that blood pressure reduces, anxiety reduces, the immune system strengthens, blood flow improves and mood improves. With nature making you both calmer, happier and healthier it’s easy to see how a couple can become closer and enjoy each other’s company more.

  7. Memories are stronger

Putting all these things together; wonder, awe, romantic scenery, inner child playfulness, reconnecting with each other and feeling happier and healthier, all coupled with novel outdoor experiences create stronger memories. Studies show that these types of memories are an integral part of the coping mechanisms that couples use to make it through the hard times and a key component of relationship longevity.
